Black Belt Grading Requirements

Grading Requirements:

The requirements to grade between Dan gradings are as follows:

 

1st - 2nd Dan:

·      You must attend 1 Black Belt Training Session (or Junior Star Grading) every 6 months.

·       You must attend when you reach the age of 16 years, Umpires Part 1.

·      You must officiate (or compete in at least 2 events)at 1 National tournament per year.

·      Minimum training time is 2 years unless you are a Junior. Junior training time is doubled until they reach the age of 16 years. 

 

2nd - 3rd Dan:

·      You must attend 1 Black Belt Training Session (or Junior Star Grading) every 6 months.

·       You must attend Umpires Part 2.

·      You must officiate (or compete in at least 2 events) at 2 tournaments per year (at least 1 must be a National tournament).

·      Minimum training time is 3 years, unless you are a Junior. Junior training time is doubled until they reach the age of 16 years. 

 

3rd - 4th Dan:

·      You must attend 1 Black Belt Training Session every 6 months.

·       You must attend Referees Part 1 and Part 2 (these must be attended at least 6 months apart).

·      You must attend at least 1 tournament before attending Referees Part 2.

·      You must officiate (or compete in at least 2 events) at 2 tournaments per year (at least 1 must be a National tournament).

·      Minimum training time is 4 years. 

 

 

4th- 5th Dan:

·      As per 3rd - 4th Dan.

·      You must be a qualified Referee

·      Minimum training time is 5 years.

 

Please note:

If you miss a Black Belt Training Session in any one 6 month period, your eligibility to grade lengthens by 6 months until you have met the grading requirements
