Martial Art Students Prove Their Skills

22nd May 2009

Local martial arts students took part in their Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Grading recently.  The event took place at Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) Academy in Bristol with a total of over 540 participants from across all parts of the UK.

After many years of training and several rounds of testing, the successful students were put through their final paces both in the practical aspects and their theoretical knowledge of Tae Kwon Do by a grading panel of TAGB 8th Dan Masters.

The following individuals were successful; Beverley McIlvar was promoted to 4th Dan, Claire Culverwell and Charles Phiri were promoted to 3rd Dan, Ryan West and Tim Ede gained their 2nd Dans, while Joseph Tolman-Lopez became a new black belt and 1st Dan.

The local TAGB Tae Kwon Do clubs, under the instruction of Senior Area TAGB Instructor, Mr Martyn Dipper (5th Dan),  in Didcot, Newbury, Thatcham and Wantage were all represented and were successful. Congratulations must go to all of these students who are a real credit to their TAGB Tae Kwon Do clubs and form part of the areas now growing number of Black Belts in the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain.
